GSTIN VERIFICATION ONLINE IN INDIA 2022

DEFINITION
All registered GST taxpayers are provided with a unique identification number known as GSTIN VERIFICATION 2022 which is a 15 digit identification that is allotted to each taxpayer based on their PAN and the state in India they are applying from. In a GST registration number, the first two digits represent the State Code, followed by the next 10 digits which represent the PAN No of the applicant, one digit which represents the entity code, one digit is left blank. The last digit is a check digit.

WHAT ARE THE DIGITS FOR PAN IN GST
The digits between 3 to 12 in GSTIN represent the PAN of the entity/individual. This is there to create a connection between the GST and the PAN database in India.

WHAT IS AN ENTITY CODE IN GSTIN
The 13th digit in GSTIN VERIFICATION is alpha-numeric (1-9 and then A-Z) and is given based on the number of registrations a legal entity/individual who holds the same PAN has within one state in India. For example, a legal entity/individual with a single registration within a State would have number 1 as 13th digit of the GSTIN. If the same individual/entity applies for a second GST registration for a second business in the same State, the 13th digit of GSTIN assigned to this second entity/entity would be 2.A legal entity/individual can register up to 35 business verticals for GST registrations within a State.

WHAT DO THE LAST TWO DIGITS STAND FOR IN GSTIN
As far as the last two digits of the GSTIN are concerned, the first digit is kept blank for future use and the last digit is used as a check digit.
