COMPANY NAME SEARCH IN INDIA 2022
DEFINITION
The Registrar of Company name in India, 2022 expects business applicants to adhere to guidelines while choosing a name to register. Some of these guidelines are completely subjective to the opinion and views of the officer that is handling the application. However, the more closely an applicant adheres and follows the rules that are stated below, the better are chances of getting approval.
RULES FOR CHOOSING A COMPANY NAME 2022
1. THE NAME SHOULD CONTAIN UNIQUE COMPONENT:
As an example let’s take a look at the company name Amazon Limited, Amazon is the unique component in this case. Once this name is taken then Amazon will not be issued to any other business within the suffix communications/or related categories such as e-commerce and online solutions etc. But in some cases a ROC may not even approve the name Amazon Chemicals Private Limited reasoning that the e-commerce brand Amazon is extremely well-known. Also a ROC may reject similar sounding names to Amazon.
2. BLACKLISTED CATEGORIES:
All types of abbreviations/adjectives/ words that are in generic in nature are rejected. For example NDTV or ABC would definitely be rejected as would a company name such as good quality clothes. Words such as bank/exchange/stock exchange are also rejected unless they are approved by government bodies such as the RBI or SEBI.
3. NO COMMON TRADEMARK:
There shouldn’t be a registered trademark by the same name on the HYPERLINK “http://ipindia.nic.in/” t “_blank” IP India website. If something like this already exists then the name given for registration can only be approved if the applicant can get a No-Objection Certificate from the original owner of that name which authorizes the applicant to use the said name.
4. DESCRIPTIVE COMPONENT IN A NAME:
For example in Rahil Logistics Private Limited, the word “logistics” describes what the said business company is into. An applicant cannot have “logistics” in their desired company name if the applicant’s company is going to be in the research or hotel business.
